Polymer analysis
The quality of raw materials and end-products, and safety in and around your company have to satisfy high standards. GETEC PARK.EMMEN operates a professionally equipped laboratory that performs extensive analyses, measurements and tests 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Polymers
We specialise in analysing and testing plastics and polymers (from granulates to yarns). We check semi-finished materials and products to help you manage your process optimally, or control your end-product. We use a wide range of chemical and physical tests, such as viscometry, optical control and element analysis to achieve this.
Preforms
PET stands for Polyethylene Terephthalate and is a polyester. It has several advantages, including full recyclability. New preforms can be made by grinding collected empty bottles down to small flakes, which are then washed, sorted and converted into granules in a recycling process. New bottles - rpet bottles - are then blown from these preforms made from recycled plastic. GETEC PARK.EMMEN's laboratory can perform analyses or tests on input material, semi-manufactured products or end-products.
Intrinsic viscosity
The intrinsic viscosity, a measure of the polymer's chain length, is determined by solvent viscometry according to ISO 1628. Different solvents are available for different types of polymers to determine the intrinsic viscosity of intermediate or end-products.
Acetaldehyde
Acetaldehyde, which can be released during the production of PET, can be identified using Headspace GC according to the ASTM F2013 standard. In addition to Acetaldehyde, this method can also be used to identify traces of benzene and/or limonene in both granulate samples and preforms.
Optical control
Various optical techniques can be used on polymers to determine the presence of contaminants in the form of particles. For example, optical techniques that measure particles in solutions of polymers, or following extrusion of the polymers in the form of a film or granules test.
